For me, it has to be nail art. At one point I owned around 100 nail polishes and would spend hours, every single weekend playing around with them. I had all kinds of tools and kits with glitter, dotting tools, color foils, rhinestones- you name it. I always found it very therapeutic and it was just “my thing” and something I was kind of known for. I loved “doing” my friends’ nails as well, but somehow always did a much better job when working on myself. Not to say I wasn’t determined though- I once spent an hour finishing my sister’s artsy manicure even after she fell asleep on my couch during the process.

01. Even although it’s been a few years now since I last visited this part of the world – and, even although I’m not actually from here – coming back still feels a bit like coming home. The Ponderosa is still next to the Bargain World, opposite the iHOP with the coldest aircon in all the land. You can still see the remains of Splendid China crumbling away by the side of the road. It’s tacky and garish, and all kinds of wonderful, and I still love everything about it. The way the heat wraps around you like a blanket as soon as you step off the plane. The smell of the air at night, and in the early morning. Those chocolate covered cherries you can get at Target, but which have never been quite as good as they were the first time. Everything. 02. I should probably stop eating the chocolat

Hot or iced, I love it both ways. And, boy do I love a flavored coffee. Michael Edwards checks out the Cascades Championship Golf Course at The Cascades Golf Resort Spa and Thalasso in Somabay, Egypt. “Dilemma … Dilemma” is the 12th hole on the Cascades Championship Course. Arriving at the tee you are faced by two fairways. Literally a choice between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. You could take the left-hand inland fairway, a temptingly wide plateau of immaculate korai grass: that’s after you’ve cleared a Guinness Book of Records sized gritty waste bunker. But it’s a shorter journey via the right-hand fairway, dicing with the blustering warm winds of the Somabay coastline. Below is the 1,200 mile coral reef that runs through the warm waters of the Red Sea. A diver’s and snorkeler’s paradise, of over 1,200 species, looking like a Photoshop fantasy: po

JW Marriott Grosvenor House London Celebrates 90 Years Of History

ReminiscingIt’s hard to imagine that there we no luxury five-star hotels gracing the pavements of one of Mayfair’s most iconic streets before 1929, until Grosvenor House came to be. Rewind another 200 years to the 1730s, and the land that the hotel stands on today was a meadow once owned by the Grosvenor family (the Head was named the Duke of Westminster by Queen Victoria in 1874). The first large detached house to be built on the site belonged to Lord Chetwynd, and subsequently passed through several owners, becoming Gloucester House after the Duke of Gloucester acquired it in the 1760s. In 1806, Lord Grosvenor the

Cognac vs Whiskey: What Are the Differences

Whiskey’s popularity is surging in recent years and for good reason. The wide variety of whiskeys available means almost anyone can find one they enjoy. Many people who like whiskey might be surprised to find they also appreciate cognac. These two distilled spirits have many similarities and, of course, quite a few differences as well. If you’re curious to learn more about cognac vs. whiskey, we have everything you need to know! Distilled Spirits     Both whiskey and cognac are distilled spirits. Both are created through the process of fermentation whereby sugars are converted to ethanol. They are then aged in barrels. Generally speaking, the longer the spirits age in the barrels, the smoother the taste will be. The barrels themselves also contribute to both the color and taste o

Wounded but saved, the silhouette of a ravaged Notre Dame looms over a forlorn Paris on the evening of 15 April 2019. In a bid to assure the French people, President Emmanuel Macron, tremulous but determined, said, “We will rebuild it together. It will undoubtedly be a part of French destiny and our project for the years to come.” Surely, she will be rebuilt, but how should this poignant task be executed? Modernity or originality? According to the 1964, Venice Charter for the Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Sites, the Notre Dame cathedral is to be rebuilt in its former likeness. Incidentally, this prompted 1000 academics, restorers an

8 Ways to Feel Happier, Right Now

Lifestyle
Sometimes, the commitments you make to yourself can be quite difficult to enforce. This is especially true if we’re talking about changing life-long habits. When it comes down to it, if you want to feel happier you have to learn to refocus your thoughts on positive things and aspects of your life. What do you focus on or think about, most of the time? If you feel worried or anxious, you’re probably thinking about something negative. If you feel unhappy, you’re probably focusing on things you don’t want to happen (or have happened). As you hold onto those thoughts, scenarios or events, you eventually start to see them as your “reality.” As you constantly replay them in your mind, you end up subconsciously accepting them.  The key to feeling happier is controlling that focus a
