Hundreds of shocked fans have taken to Twitter to support Mr Hart who was being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
One fan said: “One of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in my life.”
Another said: “My mind is still boggled that a f***ing moron would attack someone who is being inducted into a Hall of Fame, one who is having it rough because he lost his partner and one who just beat cancer.”
Another user added: “That’s no f***ing fan. No sane human being would attack a wrestler during their Hall of Fame speech.”

Mr Hart was making his induction speech on Saturday night during WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony in which the legend and Jim The Anvil Neidhart were to be inducted.
The fan who was wearing a Rasta hat jumped into the ring and tried to take the old-timer down.
The attack – which was not a publicity stunt or a staged moment – saw security immediately swarm and dog pile the man.
WWE Superstar Drake Maverick announced, “pay no attention to that man, let’s keep this going,” allowing Mr Hart to continue his speech.
Mr Hart’s attacker appeared to get his face hit by professional wrestler Dash Wilder and Davey Boy Smith.
According to videos, wrestlers Rockstar Spud, TJ Wilson and Edge also swarmed the ring, helping to take out the crazed fan.
Fellow WWE Superstar Natalya Neidhart, was also standing next to Mr Hart during the attack causing her to be tackled to the ground.
Both Mr Hart and Ms Neidhart emerged unscathed.
WWE also inducted Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, DX, Harlem Heat, The Honky Tonk Man, Torrie Wilson and Warrior Award recipient Sue Aitchison.
